Our Father

Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name. Matthew 6:9b

Dear One,

Our faith rests on the truth that Jesus of Nazareth, born of the Virgin Mary, is the only begotten Son of God.

So why didn’t Jesus say, “My Father?”

Jesus mission was to redeem mankind back to God, to set right the relationship that was broken in the garden. Through His death, burial and resurrection He made a path for the grace of adoption and our rebirth as sons and daughters of God.

With one word, 'our', Jesus wraps divine arms of love around you and me, simply and concisely declaring His intention to complete God’s redemption plan, by praying, “Our Father.”

Each time you bow your head and humbly call upon “Our Father” you are proclaiming kinship with the Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and with every child of God, adopted into His family by grace.

“Our Father.”

Sincerely,
Ed
